As a scientist and a lawyer, Dr. Ping Chen is trained in the practice of IP right acquisition, litigation, enforcement, anti-counterfeiting, IP licensing, patents, trademarks, copyright, unfair competition, trade secrets, IP strategy, pharmaceutical regulatory and compliance.
Over the 8 years of Dr. Chen's Ph.D. and postdoctoral studies, she authored seven publications, listed below, focusing on the biochemical characterization of the pharmacological and toxicological implications of the chemical compounds. Her purification and characterization of a novel excitatory peptide has resulted in the definition of a novel gene superfamily, while her research on selective transcription of the human gamma-globin gene has resulted in applications for beta-thalassemia and sickle cell anemia.
Dr. Chen applies her more than 15 years of research experience to her IP and related practice, especially the fields of pharmaceutical patents and pharmaceutical regulatory and compliance, from application to issuance, to secure long-term licensing revenue for her clients, and to ensure maximum revenue generation from existing IP assets. While in law school, she focused strongly on intellectual property and business development as an active member of Queens' IP Association, and was a recipient of the University of New Brunswick's prestigious Abraham Walker Scholarship.
