But nothing influenced us quite anime when it hit the shores of the U.S. Anime has influenced American films, music. As kids within the eighties many folks traded anything and everything for the newest Fist of the NorthStar VHS, yes VHS, or hurried home to catch Americanized anime, Voltron, Tranzor Z (Mezinger Z in Japan) or G-Force/Science Ninja Team Gatchaman on T.V. It wasn’t until Robotech was released in 1986 that we were exposed to what animation might be . Gone was the innocence of the Saturday morning cartoon. We were exposed to realistic themes of affection , anger, revenge, xenophobia and death. Today these themes are a neighborhood of our daily lexicon and that we manifest that energy on Anime, Art, Slogan themed graphic designed clothing and accessories.
