The Pixhug app is now available from the App Store, offering a fun way for users of social media to raise funding for charitable causes. Sponsors working through Pixhug agree to make cash donations to selected charities based on the number of “likes” received on photographs posted by supporters, which helps bring more resources to worthy causes, creates favorable impressions of the sponsors, and allows users to spread awareness of both with little effort.

The Make a Wish Foundation has been one of the first beneficiaries of Pixhug, thanks to the combined efforts of YouTube star Cameron Dallas and Variety magazine, who collaborated in support of both the foundation and this new means of using social media for positive change. Several of the organizations supported by Pixhug include the Elton John Foundation, the Hawn Foundation, the Canadian Center for Abuse Awareness, and the White Feather Foundation, which includes Pixhug Media founder and CEO Mido de Santi as a board member.
