PJ Kim

I am the Executive Director of the Drum Major Institute for Public Policy, a nonpartisan think tank in New York City that promotes progressive public policies in cities and for cities on a range of issues including economic justice, public transportation, housing, and immigration.

I am also a former candidate for New York City Council and earned the endorsement of the New York Times, The Daily News, and the New York Press. I was also named to City Hall News' "Rising Stars 2009, 40 Under 40”

I previously worked as Vice President for Programs and part of the start-up team at Single Stop USA, an innovative national anti-poverty effort; and also led the country's largest free tax preparation campaign to serve 43,000 low-income New Yorkers with $80 million in tax credits. My previous professional experience includes working as a management consultant in McKinsey’s New York City office.

I received my MBA and Master's of Public Administration at Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government and my AB from Princeton University, where I served as student body President and a Trustee. I am a first-generation immigrant and grew up in Louisiana and Tennessee. I am a lucky family man who is married to my better half and I have two wonderful children.
