Katie Castillo

Born and raised in Alabama, I am the daughter of a single mother and a sister to two remarkable individuals: my sister, a talented music educator and my brother, a brilliant visionary. My mother, a retired nurse, never had consistent employment - one of the many reasons she is the strong woman admire. Because of her resilience, the three of us were all able to attend the same college, the University of Alabama. In 2013, I graduated with a BA in Psychology, with minors in Communication Studies and Women's Studies.

College is where I discovered what makes my heart sing. I'm truly passionate about feminist theory, women's issues, and all social injustice. I have many aspirations, and because of that, I haven't landed on a single career goal. I know, however, that my future holds a job where I help people, whether that is through writing, teaching, or counseling.
