If you would have told me in high school I would make a career out of writing, I would have told you that I think you are full of sh... Well, I would not have believed you.
But after drifting in college a bit, I started writing and became entrenched in the Journalism scene at Iowa State University. After serving as sports editor for the college newspaper for two years, I learned that I wanted to do more than be a journalist, and that's when I discovered the challenging yet rewarding career of public relations.
Having now spent 20 years in the field, I am honored to currently oversee both media relations and social media for a leading health care innovator, GuideWell, along with its primary subsidiary, Florida Blue, the Blue Cross Blue Shield plan of Florida.
Working with a great team of PR professionals, we are collectively striving to strengthen the GuideWell brand, while also protecting its corporate reputation with a variety of stakeholders.
It has been a great professional ride so far, and I am looking forward to continuing the journey, no matter where the road takes me.
