Irlen Syndrome, otherwise known as Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome, is a disorder of the way the brain interprets light signals. It can manifest as light sensitivity, but it is more than that. When a person has Irlen Syndrome, their brain becomes overactive when exposed to certain wavelengths of light.

Irlen Syndrom is often misdiagnosed as ADHD, sometimes as a reading disorder and results in poor reading comprehension. Headaches, light sensitivity, under achieving (the wide range of symptoms here including Autism) can sometimes be traced to Irlen Syndrome.
