My writing is like an artichoke, because like an artichoke, it takes a lot of work until you reach the heart. When I decide to write an essay, or any writing piece really, I never rush into it. I'm not the kind of person who writes out one draft and is done. Just like when someone decides they would like to eat an artichoke, they most likely wont drive right in, biting into the bitter, leafy, vegetable purchased at the grocery store, without the proper preperation. An artichoke eater will spend a large amount of time peeling back each layer, saving the good parts of each leaf, and throwing away what's not edable. In my writing, I create many different drafts. Writing then typing, printing then editing, and retyping my revised work. I save what I like from each revised copy, and wait for the final draft to emerge.
The inside of an artichoke is what everyone wants. It's the heart. The most delicous. My final copy is always the best. It is the piece I am most proud of. The piece I hand in to be graded, and the piece I want others to read and enjoy.
