Pedro Marcano

Pedro Marcano is CEO and Managing Partner for Vernance, LLC. He is responsible for developing internal and external tools, systems, and frameworks for the organization as well as charting the overall direction of the company.

With this most recent venture Pedro's focus is on helping companies, utilities, state and federal government to establish and implement solid governance programs that will ease the burdens of managing risk, sustaining compliance, securing the enterprise all while supporting the entities' mission and corporate goals.

Mr. Marcano began his career as a computer engineer in the 80s and immediately gravitated towards security. A risk management pioneer with over 20 years of cyber security experience, Mr. Marcano was architecting Wide Area Networks and developing enterprise-class security strategy when most organizations still hadn't been exposed to dial-up.

Mr. Marcano has held CISO, Lead Architect, Manager, and Director level positions at some the nation's top companies including Continental Airlines, Shell, Nortel Networks, Savvis Communications, and Computer Sciences Corporation, among others. He's led countless security assessments and has served as principal investigator in a number of compliance audits including PCI-DSS, HIPAA, GBLA, and SOX.

Pedro completed a transaction where we successfully sold most of the stock Founder, CTO & Principal Consultant of Taino Technologies and Taino Consulting Group, Mr. Marcano has been called upon to remediate hundreds of cyber attacks and regain control of compromised systems. In a multi-year engagement, he implemented, secured, and monitored major systems within various data centers for the U.S. Government's General Services Administration (GSA). In another project he conducted ISO/IEC 17799-based security assessments for a Caribbean nation including monetary notes disposal.

He is an expert in PCI-DSS, SSAE16 (SAS70), ISO 17799 and 27000, CobIT, FISMA, HIPAA, and MA CMR 201-17.

A member of Mensa and ISACA, Mr. Marcano holds CISA and CISSP certifications.
