In a previous article I listed you all the reasons that could have brought you a Google penalty. If you missed it, you can find that article here: Reasons why your website got a Google penalty.
When it comes to lifting an algorithm penalty, you'll have to start with finding all the bad links that point to your website and store them into a .txt format disavow file. You can do this manually but this will require some advanced knowledges you might not have time to deal with. That's why I advise you to use a service that will do it for you in no time.
I've been helping my clients to avoid or lift Google penalties since the first period they were spotted. So you can assume that I've tried almost all the available services and tools online. However, for the past 3 months I was using Linkquidator - a new backlinks checking service that will perform a in-depth analysis of your website and will give you a report with all the bad links you must remove as soon as possible. To save you a lot of time, Linkquidator will allow you to export those bad links in a .TXT format disavow file which is the only one accepted by Google Disavow Tool.
Now that you’ve got the file, you have to log in to your Webmasters Tools account and access the Google Disavow Tool. Follow up the simple instructions you will be given and, when asked, upload the .TXT file you have exported from Linkquidator.
However, if you got a manual penalty, then you have to start by contacting webmasters of the pages which bad links point to your site and ask them to remove your link out of those pages.
But there are thousands of links you’ll have to access, this is why this option is pretty challenging and quite an unachievable task. So, after having some of the bad links removed manually you’ll have to disavow the bad links left. And finally, write a Reconsideration Request letter to Google, in which you’ll have to prove them that you’ve done your best to get rid of your bad links and ask them to review your website and get it back in the Search Results.
