Melissa Powless Chacon
Organization Change Consultant, Grant Writer, and Community Transformation Coach in California
Hello! Melissa Powless Chacon is a certified transformational coach, community coach and organization development practitioner. She has worked with tribal education and Native American youth-serving nonprofits as a program manager, trainer, grant writer, consultant and coach-facilitator for over 25 years.
Her consulting work supports building solutions and resources that are community-based, highly grant-funded, and always support cultural and modern initiatives. Her areas of interest are cultural curriculum, academic and school experiences of Native children and families, and transformational change in education.
Her coaching work supports community, organization and individuals needs through visioning, story, passion, barriers, identifying strategies and creating accountability. Her vision for coaching is to support the way we connect to and carry forward our stories that inspire and teach us to lean into our purpose and show up with the power to elicit relationships and responses we need for our communities and personal lives. As a coach and Haudenosaunee woman, she draws on her years of professional work supporting individuals, a strong ability to tap into her deep intuition, and the wisdom of her matriarchal relatives to help her to support others through their journey to transformation.
She seeks to support Native American women and men, and people of color, who are community driven leaders, educators, or who mentor Native youth in education and community. Her desire is to make coaching accessible to all individuals and organizations who are ready for growth and change, seek creative and sustainable solutions, and aim to address the challenges of patriarchal thinking and systems.
