Thoughts on system visualization:

The distinction between systems visualization and other forms isn't really on semantic definition of what they are, but rather their scale. I believe that systems visualization is really a broad way of defining the integration of several different visualization fields using a system as the underlying mechanism. Thus, systems visualization is at the top of the hierarchy of any visualization. In this light, by making a system visualization, one will inherently include data visualization, story tellings, visual metaphors, etc. as it's components. Nearly everything can be represented as a system, thus sytems visualization is really at the core of visualizing anything, whether it be a scientific visualization or information visualization, etc.
