Artists have always been inspired by the beauty of nature. Landscape has been the main centre of attraction for them. That’s why many artists opt for painting landscape in different mediums like crayons, pencil, water and oil colours, acrylics, collage and photography. While painting a landscape, in a traditional style of painting, realistic works give the impact of real objects. Impressionist paintings give just impressions of the scene. In expressionist paintings the psychological impact of form, texture and colours is important. Other trends also emerged in landscape painting from time to time, viz.- cubist, surrealistic paintings conveying the impact of the developments in the fields of psychology and literature.

Now a days, the artists are doing landscape in the trends, approach and techniques being practiced in the contemporary world. Born in 1955, Prabhinder Lall is one of the eminent Contemporary Artist from Chandigarh. He is a contemporary landscape artist doing a lot in the field of landscape painting. In his young age, while he was trying to get admission in college of architecture and wanted to opt for it as his profession, luckily or contrary to it, he was unable to get through the admission procedures. Ultimately, he got admission in College of Art, Chandigarh and completed his five years diploma in applied art but his taste for architecture which remained his unfulfilled wish is reflected in his work again and again. It may be the effect of the professions of his parents, uncle and others who were or still living with the profession of architecture. So the taste for architecture has always been a craze for him.

These days he is painting landscapes in the terms of contemporary context. He is well known for his contribution in the field of Environmental Art and has evolved an inimitable stamp that stands for a synergy between art and environment. Prabhinder’s art works are vibrant and pulsating, always pushing creative boundaries and setting design standards. He reminds us of the social responsibility to not only utilize architectural structures for convenience but to preserve and enjoy them aesthetically as well. Prabhinder’s art works inspire and can lend character to the surroundings!
