Prakash Agarwal has over 30 years of engineering, marketing and general management experience in the semiconductor, mobile computing, multimedia, digital imaging, digital video, wireless communications, mobile TV broadcast and consumer electronics. He has forged many key relationships with companies in Japan, Taiwan, China, Korea, Europe and USA, and enjoys personal/business relationships with key executives from these territories.
Prakash was born in India and immigrated to U.S.A. in 1972 to pursue his higher studies. He holds Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
He was a cofounder, President/CEO and a Director of NeoMagic Corp. since its inception in 1993 until April 2005. Under his leadership, NeoMagic became one of the fastest growing semiconductor company and leader in providing Multimedia Accelerators to Notebook PC market with over 60% market share and revenues of $250 million. He took NeoMagic public in March 1997 and won many prestigious awards in the industry. For two years in a row, NeoMagic won Fabless Semiconductor Association’s (FSA) award for “Best Financially Managed Company”. Additionally, NeoMagic won “The Most Respected Private Company” award in 1996 by FSA.
Prakash has been recognized by several awards. Most notably he was awarded the 1998 Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" for excellence and extraordinary success in innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to his business and his community.
Prakash was also a cofounder, President/CEO and a Director of iKoa Corp. from its inception until Feb. 2011.
In 1998, Prakash established NeoMagic PVT India Ltd in Kanpur and then in NOIDA, He recruited and trained 100’s of engineers for hardware and software for NeoMagic India. He did the same for iKoa Pvt. Ltd in Hyderabad in 2007.
Prior to NeoMagic Prakash served as Vice President and General Manager of Cirrus Logic’s Portable Products Division.
Prakash was also a Director of Zeevo Corp, a Bluetooth wireless company that he helped getting launched and funded. Zeevo was acquired by Broadcom in March 2005.
Prakash is currently a member of “Industry Advisory Board” of University of Illinois, Chicago. He is also serving on the board of Varthana, a non banking financial corporation (NBFC) based in Bangalore providing loans to affordable private schools. He is also on
