Prateek Narang
Something strange happened with me in last couple of years. Through Internet, I came to know Joel Spolsky, Seth Godin, Gerald Weinberg, Hugh McLeod, Fred Wilson, Paul Graham, Tim Ferriss and Derek Sivers. And I've started to have an itch of creating something. These people, I can easily call them mentor, started to influence my thinking, and I started to look out opportunities outside my day job to experiment with my newly acquired knowledge. I have couple of failed attempts. I started creating a travel portal, with an idea of creating community content about the less known places. Remains of that can be found here. Another failed attempt was to copy Gapingvoid business model, using photographs rather than cartoons. Remains of that can be found here.
The good thing about these failures was that I learned couple of good things. I came to know about Cojourneo, through one of the Hugh's blog entry. I contributed, a little, about increasing the usability of the site. I got in touch with Kevin Friedman, and I believe he appreciated that little thing I created for Cojourneo, at least that's what he said :-). I also started consulting for friend's ventures for various things like UI, Brand creation and Marketing. There are numbers of gigs I did for freshresume.net, IBS India, and few others. And the most recently helping ameliegalerie.com to form their business strategies to sell hard goods. Also working with thetearoomco.com to build their digital market strategies.
This is all, I think, what I do and have done. I'm hell-bent on cultivating a world where my potential is not governed by what I told I can and cannot do, but rather by my highest intentions and inner gifts. I'm obsessed with unrealized potential and creating a life I am meant to live. I'm moved by music, travel, writing, books, intimate conversations and the mountains.
