Student in georgia

When I moved from New Jersey to Georgia in my freshman year of high school, originally I hated the thought of moving so far away from friends that I have known my entire life. But little did I know it was the start to a new and exciting chapter in my life. Moving to Georgia gave me the chance to start fresh, meet new people, and experience a new environment from the one I had been used to my entire life.

When I first moved to Georgia, it was towards the last few weeks of freshman year so I thought it would be really hard to make friends and fit in because people had already made their friend groups from the start of the year. But what I didn’t expect was for me to quickly form such strong bonds with people that I had just met. After about 3 weeks once summer started I already had a diverse friend group and was hanging out with them almost everyday. I still kept in touch with my friends from New Jersey, but I realized that I was so enclosed in New Jersey my whole life I never even bothered to think about what other places were like.

In Georgia, I found new friendships and opportunities that helped me shape into who I am today. I was able to get more involved in outdoor activities because of the change in weather and got more active and explored so many new things (new to me) that were in Georgia.

Moving to Georgia taught me how to quickly adapt and appreciate change. It helped me grow more confident and comfortable with change. Georgia became more than the nightmare move and instead has truly become my new home. I built lost lasting friendships creating so many great memories and was even able to get into one of my top colleges UGA.
