Preetha Ram

I have a passion for peer-to-peer learning. I am a co-founder of OpenStudy.com, a social learning network for students, recently named one of the 10 "most innovative education companies" by TechCrunch. Our mission is to unite millions of learners from every corner of the world, to give help and get help.

I am also Associate Dean for Pre-Health and Science Education at Emory University. I developed a science curriculum for Tibetan monastics at the request of the Dalai Lama, and initiatives that led to a growth of internationalization throughout the educational community.

I received my PhD in biophysical chemistry from Yale and an MBA from Emory. I graduated with a MSc in Chemistry from IIT Delhi and an undergraduate degree from Women's Christian College, Chennai, India. As a researcher, I investigated protein-carbohydrate interactions at membrane surfaces using NMR spectroscopy. My educational research includes the development of Problem Based Learning (PBL) pedagogies in K-16 classrooms.
