Brandon Presser
An insatiable fascination with how the world works led Brandon from his small hometown in Canada to Harvard University, where he pursued a degree in art history and architecture. He was charmed by travel early on, living in southern Thailand to train as a scuba professional, working in bustling Tokyo as an architectural apprentice, and finally moving to Paris where he served as a communications manager for the Musée du Louvre’s new satellite museum project – the now-opened Louvre-Lens.
Brandon then joined the team of international writers at Lonely Planet, the world’s most prominent travel publisher, and traversed the globe penning guidebooks. He spent extended periods of time in diverse destinations like Iceland, Mauritius, Latvia and Turkey, and later became one of Lonely Planet’s lead writing mentors, training the first legion of Indian authors when the Delhi office opened.
After writing over 40 books and visiting over 80 countries, Brandon now contributes to a variety of print magazines and online outlets. His extensive travel experience further informs his work as a destination consultant, lecturer, public speaker, and TV personality.
When he’s not on the road, Brandon is based in New York City. In his free time he enjoys water sports, crossword puzzles and TV reruns. He speaks fluent English and French, and can order food in six other languages.
