WIN-WIN STRATEGY... Very difficult to educate a business that often the problem they have is not caused by the people they employ, it’s caused through bad practice! So when I meet with the board, or senior management and they express to me their concerns in their performance and low staff moral, I make it my mission to gather as much information as possible, not just from the top brass, as you can gain the most vital information from the foot soldiers on the front line. Then it’s all about changing the mind-set of the management. By creating a better work ethos, you create a better company. If you bring truth to the table, your logic and strategy in life will be your mentor. When you show respect & loyalty in adversity, you receive honour, respect and dignity.
So let me explain? My working life started in 1981 as a young eager sixteen year old who lived with his family on a council estate in East Yorkshire. As an apprentice I worked in what was then known as a Commercial Art Department. I learnt about screen printing, sign writing and how to create retail point of sale. In the first ten years of my working life I was a sponge for information, wanting to learn, to better myself and strived for success. Those years were the foundation of my success, the root of my knowledge. Without my foundation my life would have taken a different journey. Working for a well organised company, who encouraged self-learning techniques which resulted in the company identifying the talents of the employee’s at an early stage. This company had a “WIN- WIN” approach and was my first introduction to this method of corporate strategy. Today, I continue to promote this approach to business and thank those who nurtured me, and allowed the natural progression of my talent.
