Primary Eye Care
Primary Eye Care Associates in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, offers a wide range of services to maintain or improve their patients’ eye health and employs two experienced doctors to do so.
One half of the team at Primary Eye Care is Dr. J. James Suydam. Dr. Suydam is a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1980 and a spot on the Dean’s list. He then went on to Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1982 and his Doctor of Optometry in 1984. While at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Suydam also earned membership to Beta Sigma Kappa, the International Optometric Honor Society. Aside from his work at Primary Eye Care Associates, Dr. Suydam is currently a member of the Berks County Optometric Society, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and American Optometric Association, and is on the Executive Board of the Visiting Nurses Association of Pottstown.
Along with Dr. Suydam, Primary Eye Care enlists Dr. Linda A. Whitaker to treat the patients of the Pottstown community. Dr. Whitaker attended Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, earning her undergraduate degree in Biology in 1981. She was also a member of the Dean’s list and went on to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She completed her Bachelor of Science in 1984 and became a Doctor of Optometry in 1986. Dr. Whitaker also earned membership to Beta Sigma Kappa while at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and she received additional training at the William Feinbloom Center for Visual Rehabilitation at the Eye Institute in Philadelphia, earning a clinical excellence award. Dr. Whitaker is Primary Eye Care’s low vision specialist. In addition to her professional associations with the Berks County Optometric Society and the Pennsylvania Optometic Association, she is a member of the Low Vision Section of the American Optometric Association.
