Priscilla Argueta

Raised in Framingham, Massachusetts to a Salvadoran father and Jamaican mother, I have been blessed and fortunate enough to live within and experience many different cultures during my 21 years. I am currently a Senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst studying Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minor in Spanish. I fell into the field of Hospitality because I enjoy event planning and working in a fast paced environment where I am constantly on the move. I enjoy the organization and research that goes into event planning, while also having to work with others to create a vision and succeed in making that vision become a reality. I am motivated by success and I embrace change.

I love being in a new environment, meeting new people and having interesting, exciting and inspiring experiences. For this reason, I love to travel and I started when I was young. I have been to 5 different continents, visiting countries such as Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Guatemala and Japan. I like to push myself to try things and force myself out of my comfort zone. I truly believe that the best way to learn about a culture is to live among the people of that culture. I enjoy learning about different nations and the people of those nations and I try my best to learn new languages in order to communicate with people and not just read about them in a book. Writing has always been my true passion and I believe my writing is inspired mostly by all of my experiences I have had over seas.

I find inspiration from my surroundings and like to shed light on the unjust events that have occurred in our society and help recognize the need for change. I would definitely consider myself a rising activist continuously learning about the world and how we can fix the social justice issues within our nation and across the globe. One day (as cliche as it may sound) I hope to be able to make a difference in my society and have a positive impact on it by giving back to my community either by writing, hosting events on these issues, or a combination of both.
