Prisha Sharma
Student in Athens, Georgia
Hello, my name is Prisha Sharma from Lawrenceville, GA. Fun fact! The human eye can see just about seven million different colors. Of that seven million, green is my favorite color. My love for green stems from my childhood in Oklahoma. When I was in elementary school, my mom studied botany and conducted research in a greenhouse at Oklahoma State University. For me, that greenhouse was a playful wonderland filled with vibrancy from the freshness of the air to the critters that roamed and bounced around in it. Inside the greenhouse, the air was crisp, warm, and smelled of fresh begonias. I remember collecting several different kinds of bugs from the greenhouse, including but not limited to ants, ladybugs, and worms. I would take them home in plastic tupperware containers of varying sizes in which I poked multiple holes into and do my best to imitate the habitat from which they came. That glass house became my green sanctuary for making new insect friends and being creative as a kid. Through my eyes, the color green represents calming elements such as peace and life but more importantly it represents nature and growth. My love for nature did nothing but grow and now I plan to pursue a degree in environmental engineering because of it. Environmental engineering is a branch of engineering that entails protecting and improving environmental conditions alongside growing urban development. I hope to make the earth a more sustainable planet so that we may get to see more of my favorite color.
