Student and Volunteer in Charlotte, NC
Hi, I’m priyanka. I’m a student at UNC. You can read my online portfolio with a click on the button above. The paper portfolio is also listed above as photos. My ecological footprint is 2.6 Earths. I can do better if I carpool more, live in a bamboo home and eat less meat. The first video is about recycling in Mecklenburg county. It is important because in order to best recycle here, we must only recycle paper, cardboard, clean glass, plastic bottles, aluminum cans and jugs. Our facility is only able to recycle these at the moment, so we should only purchase and recycle these. This video connects with Cairo's Trash City because it shows the importance of trash and recycling practices in our world. They are both referring to trash practices in developed worlds. They contrast because Trash City refers to the trash in a more powerful way, transforming lives by giving people of the city money for their families and education. The Trash City of Cairo Egypt shows us how trash and specifically recycling is an important step to the betterment of our society. Trash can generate jobs and we should all do our part to recycle right so cities like in Cairo do not have to rely on trash for its economy. Trash City differs from Recycling in Mecklenburg County because it shows a deeper impact of the trash we are throwing out. It is similar because trash collection in Mecklenburg has also created jobs and many people are needed to keep recycling go right.
