Prodyut Bora, 39, is a National Executive Member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was, till recently, the State General Secretary of BJP in Assam.

Prior to this, he was the National Convenor of BJP's Information Technology (IT) Cell. The IT Cell was BJP’s newest organisational unit, and Bora was its first head. Under his leadership, the IT Cell grew to 23 states and counted hundreds of Members, all occupying mid- and senior-level positions in leading organisations.

Bora studied, successively, at the Rashtriya Indian Military (RIMC), Dehra Dun; Delhi Public School (DPS), Noida; St Stephen’s College, Delhi; and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.

He also attended the London School of Economics (LSE) as a Chevening Gurukul Scholar, and the Yale University as a Yale World Fellow.

Bora read English Literature at the undergraduate level, and thereafter worked with the start-up team of Biblio: A Review of Books, India’s leading literary and book-review journal.

He started his post-MBA career as a management consultant with Hewitt Associates, one of the world’s foremost consultancies, and then went on to become the VP (Business Development) of Digital Talkies, India’s first digital filmmaking company. He incubated a software company and ran it for 6 years, before joining politics full-time.

While IIM graduates can be found in diverse careers from writing to education to NGOs, Prodyut Bora has pioneered the move to politics.

Bora occasionally writes opinion pieces, and his contributions have been carried on the edit- and op-ed pages of the Indian Express, The Times of India, The Economic Times, the Hindutan Times, The Pioneer, etc.

  • 2010: Nominated Asia 21 Young Leader by Asia Society
  • 2010: Invited to the Young Leaders Conference, Genoa, Italy, by The Council for the United States and Italy
  • 2008: Voted among India's top 100 CIOs (chief information officers) by CIO magazine
