Beth Proffitt
I'm currently in training as a coach through the Mentor Coach program, but in many ways I've been preparing for this role for many years. I have a degree in Humanities from Yale University and started my career in Arts Education at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. After a great deal of reflection and exploration, I shifted gears and began a PhD program in Cognitive Psychology at Northwestern University with the aim of better understanding human development. Although several moves and several additions to my family delayed the completion of my dissertation, I finally found the time and--with the help of a supportive coach-- earned my doctorate. This led to a number of years in academia, first teaching courses on Organizational Behavior and Decision Making, and ultimately working as a dean advising and coaching students to help them be successful in college.
