Nvasekie Konneh

I am Nvasekie N. Konneh, nine year veteran of the US Navy. I am the author of the book of poetry, "Going to War for America," about my experience analyses of the Liberian civil and the US military between 1996 and 2005. I share my life between the US and Liberia where I publish a weekly magazine on Liberian arts, culture and tourism. The magazine I am publishing in Liberia is called The Uptown Review which focuses on Liberian and African literature, fashion, entertainment, and culinary arts. Our future goal is to be able to extend our creative efforts to radio and tv programs which will lead ultimately to owning our own TV and radio station some days to come. Beside the magazine project, I am also completing work on three different manuscripts, a memoir (The Land of My Father's Birth), literary criticism (Going Back to the Days When Everything Was Beautiful), and another book of poetry "The Love of Liberty Brought Us Together."
