Projektah was born on the 13 September in the early 80's in Vosloorus in the East Rand of Johannesburg (RSA). He's known for his contributions around his community as Volunteer worker, an artist (Rapper), Graphic Designer and Entrepreneur being one of a few rappers to Run a Magazine (U-Turn), Clothing line (Spill Your Beans Clothing) and Sign himself at the same time.
He started off as a traditional African poet before the 90s as he grew up in the homelands of Lesotho and Sterkspruit (Eastern Cape). Inspired by African Poetry from cultural ceremonies (Initiation school mainly). He then pursuit his interest in spoken word, got introduced to Hip-Hop around the late 80's via radio & TV and started rapping around 93/94 as an amature.
Projektah took out his first official solo single in 23 February 2009 (Zoom In). A real head banger that sold +-600 limited edition copies independently to raise funds for the College In Bars project which is doing well on South African streets for an independent artist. The album was first released online (www.liber8music.co.za) in February 2010 and the hard copy then dropped a month later.
Amongst his most reputable accolades, Projektah made it to the Top 8 "Em Cee Africa" TV (Continental Rap Battle competition), the reigning Champion in HHP's YBA (Rap Battle Championship), he is also the reigning Champion along side Quaz and Poker on Y fm's Hip-Hop show that was co-hosted by the Lee Kasumba, Ace of Spades and Dj Kenzhero, contributed to an award winning mixtape of the year 2008 (Back Packers Mixtape Vol.3 "Track 16-Brother Brother"), he did a double feature on the MixTape Wars by Ace Of Spades and Jazz, made his debut on HYPE session (mixed by Dj Zakes) with Two mind blowing Tracks from his album(COLLEGE IN BARS). Shared the biggest stages in the country with Hip-Hop Giants such as Wordsworth (USA) at the Tri-Continental Festival, PROKID, Ben Sharpa, Snazz D (Em Cee Africa Champion), Tumi from the Volume, HHP, Proverb, Khuli Chana, Tear Gas, Ba Leloko La Lekoko, Ill Substance and the 7-seals Crew, Damola, K-Nan, Last Day's Fam ("Best Hip-hop Group" 2009 HYPE Award winners), SOS ("Best mixtape" 2008 HYPE Award winners), the legendary and Late GURU (from Gangstarr), Zulu Boy, Zubz, Reason, Optical Illusion, Liquid KZN, Driemanskap, Fith Floor, Illiterate Skill and many as the list goes endless.
