Michael Schwartz
I am in full-time independent practice in Liberty NY. I trained at the Wright Institute in Berkeley for my MA and PsyD in Psychology, completed two years of pre-doctoral training at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center and UCSF in San Francisco, followed by a two-year post-doctoral clinical and research fellowship in traumatic brain injury and neuropsychology with adults and children. I worked for a year on a grant providing behavioral medicine support with an adult in a rural infectious disease program and interventions with "at risk" youth. I've been in full-time solo practice since the end of that grant in Fall 2004. I am a member of APA, APA Divisions 40 (Neuropsychology), 42 (Independent Practice), and 55 (Pharmacology). I have been the early career psychologist board representative to Division 42 and now am transitioning to a general member-at-large position on the board. Through Division 42, I am also a mentor for students and ECPs as well as create programming aimed at these populations. I am a member of the NYSPA RxP Committee and am just completing a post-doctoral masters in psychopharmacology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Being a country doc my practice is generalist in nature, though I see a majority of children and their families, as well as do home visits as necessary. The following are the kinds of activities in which I am regularly involved (though not limited to): • Provide neuropsychological, behavioral medicine, forensic, and bariatric surgery evaluations using a flexible battery (cognitive, personality, and projective tests as appropriate) as well as general psychiatric evaluation and treatment. • Provide neuro-behavioral and medication management consultation to primary care/family practice physicians, psychiatrists, and neurologists as well as to guidance and teaching staff in several school districts in Sullivan County NY. • Provide range of treatment approaches to individuals, families, and couples using an integrative treatment approach across the lifespan from age 5 onward. • Supervise students, trainees, fellows, and psychologists in psychotherapy, testing and assessment, and neuropsychology. • Consultant and supervisor to guidance staff through the Sullivan County BOCES system.
