Musician in Waukegan, Illinois
Quentin Ecxford, was born Jan 19, 1986 in Waukegan, IL. He wrote his 1st “rap” at only 12 years old. He developed sound by beat boxing and making beats with pencils at lunchtime. He learned how to make music and to get others involved. Soon after he joined the school band. Being able to read and compose music would expand his talents. He played the trombone 6th thru 9th grade for the band. In 9th grade he also joined his 1st rap group “RaizEmUp Records”. He began to record songs with his friends. He chose the name “Damonik” to carry out his craft. Not long after, he was producing songs in “the basement”. Friends would bless his studio by coming to collab, and rap battle. Q asserted himself and one of the best artists. In 2008, a breakup with his ex-girl inspired his 1st mixtape. Q stopped at nothing. Songs like “Closer”, “Wauktown Reppin”, and “Days Go By” made the mixtape a success with those he shared it. Q felt accomplished but struggled to get his music to enough listeners to become well-known in his city. He use sites like Myspace to get heard. In 2010, he decided to pursue a degree in broadcasting. He enrolled at ICB Chicago. Q took his hunger to the next level. He obtained an internship at WGCI-FM Chicago. He made connections and educated himself of the radio/music side of the business. Q hit the streets using his connections and started making a name for himself. He changed his name from “Damonik to QMoney” to coincide with his new look and new swagger. After graduation in 2011, Q was faced with a make or break decision, intern for free or get a paying job elsewhere. He chose to get a job to support his family. He began to slowly lose momentum from the buzz he had built in Chi. He went on to release a few songs, just enough to keep him relevant. In Dec 2012, his fiancé gave birth to his two beautiful twin girls. Music seemed like a long shot. In Apr 2014, he was blessed with another baby girl, giving him 5 children. With parenthood taking priority, Q struggled to regain the buzz he had once achieved. Later that year in October, a performance at The House of Blues Chi helped Q gain momentum. He rocked the House of Blues! This was a turning point in his. That Dec, his fiancé Jessika “JMoney” Lopez got him "the best Christmas gift ever". A new microphone! Since that point, Quentin regained his momentum, motivation and swagger! He released his first mainstream album “Half Man Half Amazing” on July 1, 2015 on all major online music stores.
