Greene, New York
I am a Jamerican living in New York and pursuing a doctoral degree in education at Binghamton University. I am very interested in changing the way children learn, even if I am unable to change the way teachers teach.
I am a natural scientist with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies. I later completed a Master of Public Health at Columbia University in the City of New York.
I have worked in industry as a chemist, worked in education as a chemistry teacher, worked in public health as an epidemiologist, and recently worked in the energy field as an Energy $mart program coordinator with New York State.
When I have time I enjoy writing. I have a number of unpublished fictional works which people keep telling me to get published. In 2008 I completed and published a book about my teaching experience – School Daze: 10 Years of Heartache by Maxine Moline (pseudonym). In 2012 one of my public health research projects was published as a chapter in Advances in Medicine and Biology, Volume 48 – Neonatal Resuscitation Practices in New York City Maternity Hospitals. I also enjoy writing grants and research protocols; in general I like writing that has the potential to get things done.
Being the constant advocate, I intend to secure a future in which I can combine all my resources and experiences to build capacity in underserved communities. That is the challenge I lay before me for the next 20-30 years. Thus will I become a true citizen of the world.
