Quinn C.
Student and water tester in Minneapolis, Minnesota
My GPA in 8th grade was a 12. I am on the A Honor Roll. My Environmental And Spacial Technology (EAST) project won multiple awards at EAST Conference 2015. I got to collaborate with my district and with the EPA on a water quality project in my hometown. I have a background in GIS and GPS training. I won the ESRI story map competition for my Historic Springdale map. This project was a Beyond the Bell project, where it is completed entirely after school. In 6th grade I created a citywide stream team in my town. I taught everyone how to use water testing equipment, how to improve water quality, and identify macro-organisms. I partnered with a local watershed sanctuary and built a riparian buffer zone. While we were there, my stream team cleaned waste out of the stream and water tested. We water tested with kits we won out of a Disney and Science In Middle Schools (SIMS) grant. With these kits we also taught classes to 6th and 7th grade. Other kits were brought for us from the local water utilities station. My mapping background consists of online and desktop ArcGIS .
