R.D. Ackley
Student, Mother, and Volunteer in Belton, Texas
Greeting and Salutations, my name is Regina and I am in my Senior year here at UMHB. My major is Clinical Psychology and my projected graduation date is May 2017.
I am not tech savvy and that is alright by me, my husband is the computer person having graduated from UMHB with both a BS and MS in computer science. We live in a Civil War Era Victorian right here in downtown Belton, and that in its own right comes with many challenges.
Add to that the fact that I fancy myself an urban, or really in our case, suburban farmer, and it makes for some interestingly good times. I don’t have a specific path that I’ve chosen to walk, I prefer to live a small life and do as I please, when I please. So that might mean that I fancy myself the next Food Network home cook gone big, or a small market grower peddling her wares at the local farmer’s market, or simply the neighborhood kook with six cats, three dogs, four dairy goats, a few ducks, a potbellied pig, a dozen and a half laying hens wandering around her property and her raised garden beds and fruit trees in the front yard.
I am originally from Southern California’s high desert region, more specifically, the Antelope Valley which is in the Mojave Desert although I have lived in Central Texas for the past eleven years. I have lived on Fort Hood, Killeen and most recently here in Belton. Both my husband and myself are Army Veterans and were proud to continue our family’s tradition of service to our nation.
I look forward to coming to know each and every one of you during our time in class.
