Rearabilwe Aobakwe Bessie Tlotlo Nokoane

My name is Rearabilwe Nokoane, a third year student pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Education in Senior phase and FET teaching majoring in Afrikaans and School ICT support, at the great University of Johannesburg. Teaching is not just about passively passing information but equipping learners with tools to think critically and solve problems independently.

As a student teacher, my core teaching philosophy bridges humanism and constructivism by creating an inclusive learning environment where every learner's emotional and cognitive needs are met. I can create this by facilitating hand-on and scaffolded learning in the classroom and also encouraging diverse learners to construct their own understanding and achieve their full potential.

Outside of my academics, I am a ballet dancer. Teaching and ballet do somehow share similar disciplines. As a dancer, you never jump straight to “grand allegro”, you first start at the barre with simple "plies" and “tendus” to build alignment and balance before moving to center floor. Same way in teaching you never complex tasks at students without foundation. As a teacher you use scaffolding, starting with the basics and guided exercises before letting students work independently.
