Since Mankind learned to stand upright, we have striven to understand the world around us and our relationship with it, analyzing, interpreting, and expressing our ideas and experiences through a variety of methods. Historically, the method that has prevailed and has proven to be universally beneficial to all humans is art. Since our infancy, we have used art to connect with all aspects of the Earth and its systems, with each other and foreign cultures, and with ourselves. Today, art serves the same purpose, and I believe its function is currently at its most crucial and necessary.

The world is becoming smaller and smaller as communities draw more ties to each other through technology and social media. We are coming to know each other more intimately, and we are therefore suffering the pangs and chaos of the human experience together. In these troubled and confusing times, art’s function plays a leading role in our progress. This is where my blog comes in.

I am an artist, and I am a journalist—a classically trained musician and performer, and a concerned, active writer. For a long time, I thought about these two faculties as distinct from one another. I thought of myself as a person with two discreet skill sets, applying them independently to my experience with the world around me. However, this doesn’t have to be the case. I have come to realize that the two, while formidable facets of my life independently, can serve to function on a higher level when married together.

The goal of this venture is to function purposefully as a news outlet by tapping into the most innate and universal concept that we all share. If art is how we come to understand and express our experiences of the world, it stands to reason that it can serve to inform ourselves on the pertinent goings-on in our communities, in our country, and around the world. Here, I aim to appeal to the right side of your brain in order to inform and stimulate the left. Here, I aim to fuse the realities of current events with the idealities of our most fanciful dreams. Here, I aim to wake up not only your mind, but also your spirit.

Come here to learn, to express, to ideate, to wonder, and to grow. I’m on the journey with you, and together we can discover the deepest truths about our world, all in the effort of making it a better place for us all.
