Arturo Gomez-Ruiz

Born and raised in Campeche, Mexico, I obtained a Bachelors degree in Physics from Universidad Veracruzana, in Xalapa. After finishing a MSc (Astronomy) at UNAM's Center for Radioastronomy in Morelia, I left my country to get a PhD in Germany (well, in fact a Dr. rer. nat). I wrote my doctoral thesis on Astrophysics at the Max-Planck-Institute for Radio Astronomy (MPIfR) in Bonn. From June 2012 until 1st June 2014 I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Arcetri's Astrophysical Observatory of the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics in Florence, Italy. After a few mondths second posdoc at MPIfR, I moved back to Mexico with a Catedra CONACYT para Jovenes Investigadores. I work for the Large Millimeter Telescope / Gran Telescopio Milimetrico at Instituto Nacional de Astrofisica, Optica y Electronica, in Puebla, Mexico.

Apart from Astronomy, I also love nature! When a teenager I was involved in environmental NGO's in my home city Campeche. I still try to support these activities when the stars allow me to do it (mostly on vacations). I also practice mountain biking, indoor climbing, and kayaking.
