Thanksgiving 2012 I felt an awful pain in my upper abdomen. Being an expat overseas, far from the family physician, it scared me terribly. I spent 2 days in bed and ate very little. Coffee made it worse. My gut instinct (no pun intended) told me it might have something to do with acid reflux, for I have had an endoscopy years ago and been advised to use acid reducers when necessary. Trying to "doctor" myself, I researched acid reflux diets and came across alkaline vs. acid foods and all sorts of websites and new information. I have been so alerted by what I have learned and awakened to the importance of we are what we eat that I am forever changing my diet.

Here is my journey of a new way of eating, buying and looking at what to eat and feed my family.
