Rabbi Jeremy Gerber

Rabbi Jeremy Gerber was raised in Stockholm, Sweden, where Jewish communal life was shaped in part by his father’s long tenure as Cantor of the Great Synagogue of Stockholm. Although born and raised in Sweden, he is a United States citizen and later moved to New York City in 1999 to pursue higher education at Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He completed rabbinical ordination in 2009 after returning to New York for advanced study.
Rabbi Jeremy Gerber served for 13.5 years as rabbi of Congregation Ohev Shalom in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. His professional focus includes the Jewish Bible, prayer, Hebrew language, lifecycle events, holidays, Jewish history, and philosophy. He approaches text study with careful attention to language and context. He believes Jewish learning should be engaging and accessible. His leadership has included interfaith collaboration recognized by local and national Jewish organizations. He is fluent in Swedish, has advanced knowledge of Hebrew, and maintains close ties with family across the United States and Sweden.
