Objective: I see myself as a matchmaker between Jews and their tradition and heritage. As a family, we wish to help strengthen Jewish communities.
Bio: Born in Brooklyn, I grew up in Israel and have attended a variety of yeshivot, where I have been exposed to different styles of teaching and outlooks. I have also been continuously involved in Jewish education and social action, volunteering with various organizations. During my period at Hesder Yeshiva I volunteered as a madrich and informal educator in the NESTO program for teenage immigrants. After completing my studies there, I attended Bar-Ilan University, where I first became involved in community leadership. At Bar Ilan I created and ran a student organization helping recent olim and the English speaking student body in general. These experiences helped to shape my educational outlook and my understanding of the challenges facing both teenagers and students in the orthodox world.
I returned to the world of Jewish education after a trip to Bulgaria where I served as camp Rabbi for the local community. This experience introduced me to a new world of non-observant Jewish communities and semi assimilated communities. It was following my time in Bulgaria that I decided to go back to full time learning in order to become a Rabbi and work in Jewish education. Today, I continue to be involved by serving as an advisor and making trips to Central and Eastern Europe in various educational capacities (for example, to volunteer at camps or Limmud).
I believe that my hands on experience, together with my many years of learning both in Yeshiva and in University make me uniquely qualified to succeed in my goals. I bring to the table a unique understanding of today's youth, especially the challenges facing less affiliated or unaffiliated Jews. I also have experience teaching learned audiences and older age groups, mainly through my community involvement in Efrat, the city I live in, as well as one on one learning sessions with students in Yeshiva.
