My father Late Kishore Chandra Sahu was a well known Artist, Dramatist and Lyricist who practiceddifferent forms of folk arts such as Rasalila, Odisi Kirtan and directed many popular theaters in Orissa.

I left my school education in the year 1973 to join the Handicraft Training Centre at Bhubaneswar. I received training on “Patachitra” (traditional paintings of Orissa) from Guru Gokul Bihari Patanaik, late Guru Bhagabata Maharana and Guru Benudhara Mohapatra. After completing formal training on Patachitra Painting, I practiced under the guidance of Guru Gokul Bihari Patanaik.

From the childhood days I had inclination towards art, song and literature, which led me to devote heart and sole towards research in different forms of painting art. Since 1986 my articles on paintings and handicrafts of Orissa has been publishing in different magazines and newspapers. I have received accolades from different organizations for excellent craftsmanship and intricate works in paintings and research findings. My articles are based on arts which have been well recognized and appreciated by renowned critics and eminent personalities. I have interacted with many renowned personalities, art lovers, administrators while participating in different workshops and seminars.

Presently I am doing my research and providing training on Patachitra at my residence named “Chitrasala” at Bhubaneswar. Now young generation artists are adopting the new themes on Patachitra, which is a new dimension to Paintings in Orissa. I have to go a long way to explore new things that gives meaning to life and human existence.
