Rachael Davies

From an early age I have always wanted to land my career in the fashion industry. Now, I am twenty years-young slowly starting out and making my way up the ladder.

I have a passion for magazines, both writing for them and designing. I decided to take this passion and combine it with my ambition of working in fashion. Studying Magazine Journalism and Feature Writing at Southampton Solent University has enabled me to develop skills and gain an experience in my chosen industry. Being involved in such a fast growing industry produces such a buzz and motivational atmosphere. The beauty of my occupation area is that it offers such variety and that every day is different. This suits my personality type as I find routines tedious and like to keep myself upbeat and busy.

Completing a weeks placement at fashion and celebrity LOOK magazine has really opened my eyes and given me an insight into the industry. I was placed in the features department of the magazine which enabled me to focus on my writing style and practice adapting to the tone of a well-established publication.

Outside of university I would consider myself to be rather outgoing and maintain a busy lifestyle. I am very rarely sat still and any spare time I do have is usually spent browsing the shops.
