Rachael Rafter

I'm a research scientist at INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics in University College Dublin, Ireland. My research interests include recommender systems, personalisation technologies, machine learning, data analytics and human computer interaction.

I hold a BSc (hons), MSc (by research) and PhD in computer science from University College Dublin. My doctoral thesis entitled Evaluation and Conversation in Collaborative Filtering, was completed under the supervision of Prof. Barry Smyth.

Prior to taking up my position in INSIGHT, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher both in UCD (also with Barry Smyth) and Trinity College Dublin, where I worked with Prof. Vincent Wade in The Knowledge and Data Engineering Group.
