A Summer Thunderstorm

Humidity puts everyone in a bad mood. That is how I feel about starting a paper, for instance, whether it is a research paper or a creative writing assignment I dislike the beginning stages. After I terminate my procrastination, countless ideas race through my head like clouds race to cover the sky. Once an idea forms, I am relieved. Mist begins to descend from the clouds and it starts to drizzle. Raindrops are formed as I construct my sentences. I pause to improve my introduction. Suddenly, lightening strikes! I am not satisfied. My mind freezes and then abruptly goes blank. Hail appears. I am baffled at a roadblock. I sit in silence until I hear thunder roar. Multiple sentences appear in my mind and I rush to write them down. I am on a roll. Nonstop writing. Sentences become paragraphs; paragraphs become pages. The rain slowly comes to a halt. I am writing the conclusion to my paper. The sun finally begins to shine. I am proud of my work. Until the next heat wave...
