Rachel Sykes
I am a final year PhD student, currently writing up a cultural and literary theory of quietness.
My research covers contemporary American fiction, philosophies of quietism, new modernism, + US culture after September 11th, 2001. I also teach twentieth + twenty-first century American politics + visual culture at the University of Nottingham.
As a fledgling, I wrote reviews + broke stories of SU corruption for York Vision before moving to Dublin to edit news + features for Citywide News.
Since then, my work has been published in This Recording, The Toast, + Review 31. My academic work can be found in the Journal of American Studies + I have a chapter forthcoming in the edited collection, 9/11 in Recovery.
I tweet + blog, informally, on Tumblr. I keep up to date with who's Googling me at academia.edu.
