Well hello there.

My name is Rachel and I love to play in the kitchen. And by play, I mean dance, sing, experiment, taste and mostly undulate whimsy and love through all things created…and edible. I dream in recipes and when my mind is wandering, it is usually because I am imagining a beautiful cookie or a casserole that could be the very cure for a terrible day. Or building a layered cake that has the potential to just rock someone’s week. Or concocting a new way to use purple carrots.

My greatest role is Mommy. And wifey. My husband is a rugged, handsome football-loving, happy-go-lucky, man-of-few words with a skip in his step and the best and most telling dimples you’ve ever seen. He is my taste tester. And honest. My daughter is a two and a half year old whirlwind of joy, chaos, laughter, curiosity and sheer will. She is a great spoon-licker.

Did I mention I cook mostly Paleo? Paleo is a funny word. Not funny “haha,” but funny because it conjures up images of Cavemen, fad-diets and dinosaurs. When I say I cook Paleo, I mean that I use whole, true, good ingredients. Things that are not processed, that don’t include funny ingredients (or more than a couple of ingredients, for that matter) and that benefit your body. No wheat, no legumes, and definitely no marshmallows. Just kidding. I had two yesterday, because they are a guilty pleasure! That being said, I would like to state that I am not always strict. Sometimes I eat cheese. Sometimes I even indulge in a glass of champs! Sometimes I just fail at life and eat a piece (fine. two pieces) of toast. And do you know what happens? I bloat. I feel yucky. I have found that sugar makes me break out into guilty blemish face and that wheat puffs me up a la 2005/the college years and makes me lethargic and remorseful. I try to shop locally, mostly. I try to use what we have and waste little. I like to share. I love to feed people. And I love to spread the whimsy. It’s everywhere.

I am attaining my fancy schmancy permits to be able to sell sweets and savories locally.

Email me at [email protected] for special orders. I also feature a sweet and/or savory taste each week, also available locally.
