Hello! I’m Rachel Boettigheimer, a Special Education Teacher from Valhalla, New York. Teaching is more than just a job for me—it’s a passion that’s been fueled by a blend of personal experiences and professional pursuits. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Mercy College and a Master’s in Special Education from the College of New Rochelle, which equipped me with the skills to support and enrich the lives of my students with diverse learning needs.
My approach to education is deeply influenced by my own adventures, including a transformative stint in the Walt Disney World College Program and extensive travels that opened my eyes to the myriad ways of life around the globe. I bring these experiences back to my classroom, using books, technology, and interactive activities to transport my students across borders and into new cultures. This not only broadens their horizons but also helps them develop a sense of empathy and global awareness that's crucial in today's interconnected world.
Beyond the classroom, I'm actively involved in projects that enhance educational resources, such as DonorsChoose, and I participate in the MS Walkathon every year to help fight multiple sclerosis, a cause close to my heart. Through these efforts, I aim to inspire my students and make a difference in the community.
Every day brings a new opportunity to influence and learn from my students, and I cherish every moment of this journey, striving to create a learning environment that celebrates diversity and fosters curiosity about the world.
