Rachelle Nessia

Cebu City, Philippines

I love words. This led me to what I do now for a living - writer, regional news editor, communicator, and over-all multi-slashie for Philippine Information Agency based in Central Visayas. I manage our agency's Cebu Information Center. I craft communication plans, organize press events, and facilitate media interviews. I host a weekly radio and TV forum called "Kapihan sa PIA" tackling pressing government and community issues. I also manage our center's official social media accounts and often give talks on social media and digital journalism for schools and government agencies.

I finished my Bachelor's Degree on Mass Communications from Negros Oriental State University where I was Editor-in-Chief of our universtiy school paper for two years.

I love books, the beach, dogs, cats, nifty gadgets, travels, witty conversations, design, dark chocolates, dancing, spicy food. I'm also a raving fan of Sherlock Holmes, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and coffe drinks (viva latte!).

I'm passionate, driven, and thrive on challenges. I tend to do things my way until I'm convinced that the other person's way is better.

I'm currently working on getting a scholarship so I can pursue a Master's Degree on Communications (Risk or Strategic, focusing on disaster management) in Columbia University. If you have to dream, dream big, right?
