Teacher and horseback riding in Kingston, Ontario, Canada

I am a Kingston, Ontario, Canada-based teacher and horseback riding who is interested in photography, hiking, and education. I’m also a fan of yoga and travel.

I went to school at the University of Waterloo for History and Geography. I learned so much about how interconnected the world is and I want to share this with students.

I have spent 5 years working at the Waterloo Region Museum where I was a Historical Teacher/Interpreter. I really loved this job because it gave me a lot of fundamental skills in classroom management, differentiation and designing programs to engage students in learning.

My grandfather always said, "Knowledge is something that no one can ever take away from you." I truly believe this is true. Knowledge is power. Power to do. Power to change. Power to make a difference in the world. I try to take every opportunity awarded to me to learn something new. I want to foster this same love of learning in my students.

As a teacher, I am a passionate, reflective and collaborative builder of community. I always seek to build community, but this is not something that can be done alone. It takes a community to build a community through much collaboration and reflection. In my classroom I strive to co-create this community with my students. When students feel safe, cared for and part of something more than themselves, they can learn and become all that they can be!

I can't wait to share my love of learning with students and teachers alike.
