Jena Racher

Howdy, I’m Jena. (I didn't write Howdy, but I love that that is the default!). I am an occasional teacher for the LKDSB, and I recently got on the OT list for OCDSB. I am taking ELL Part One because I would love to be able to learn more about these learners and gather more resources to help them better. I haven't had a lot of experience in ELL, I've supplied for an ELL teacher and loved getting to know all the students in that classroom. While I taught in England, I also had many students in my classroom who were ELL, and I found it fascinating how easily they were able to adapt at such a young age. While I was in high school, I was apart of a student exchange, so I know how diffcult it is to be a second-language learner, especially in a different country. I would to be able to use my experience to help students feel more comfortable in our classrooms.

Personally, I love reading and painting. I have recently learned how to water colour, and I love being able to paint (I mostly attempt scenery, movie/book posters, or just my favourite horror/action characters). I've also appreciated my time off this year and I have been able to read more than usual. I also love to travel, unfortunately I have had to cancel a couple trips this year, but look forward to a safer time when I can continue to do so.
