I am a writer.

I was a writer...I hope one day to be a writer...

I am studying English/Creative Writing at DePaul University in what is now my senior year. I love all types of writing, short stories have recently become my favorite to write and read. I also write poetry, and I write a lot of my pieces to one day be performed. I love spoken word poetry and performance. Not all of my writing is written to be performed but there are many that are. I always loved writing and always wrote free writes and poems, short stories, etc as a kid but it was just something I did for fun. Once I was introduced to the world of Spoken word my freshman year at DePaul, my life changed and I knew from that moment on what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I was inspired by the spoken word poets -- a couple of my favorite spoken word performers/poets --> Buddy Wakefield, Anis Mojgani, Saul Williams, and Beau Sia. Literature is also something that feels like home to me. Reading the perfect combinations of words authors like Vonnegut, Rilke, Faulkner, Kerouac, and others sucked me in to a world that I never wanted to leave. To write is to create other worlds, alternate existences.
