Rebecca Adler Miserendino
Environmental Health Scientist, International Science and Bioscience Policy Leader, and Principal Environment Global Affairs in Washington, DC
I am an environmental health scientist and former government official with fifteen years of professional experience in academic research, policy development, and government relations. As a leader both inside and outside government, I have worked internationally and domestically to influence highly complex environmental and climate policy issues; increase funding for environmental research and international collaborations; and enhance U.S. innovation and technological competitiveness. In my current role as a Principal and leader of the Lewis-Burke’s Environment and International Teams, I leverage my unique expertise and wide-ranging network to promote the role of universities, scientific societies, and other research focused organizations to address global challenges such as climate change, food insecurity, biodiversity loss, infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance, and competition in emerging technology. While serving the U.S. Department of State, I managed a portfolio of U.S. multilateral and bilateral investments and policy initiatives in clean energy, emerging markets, and climate resilience worth over $1.04 billion.
Issue Expertise: policy and strategy development; international science policy (emerging technology, data sharing, collaboration/scientific exchange); basic and applied environmental research (NSF, EPA, NOAA, NIST, USGS, DOI; DOE; NIH; CDC); economic development; risk assessment; stakeholder engagement; coalition building; program management and evaluation; appropriations; government relations, multilateral negotiation.
